President Donald Trumps first 100 days in office have been good for Wall Street.
The billionaire businessman-turned-politicians surprise win in November sent the markets sharply higher in the final two months of 2016, and investors have since tried to assess exactly what Trumps presidency will mean for the U.S. economy as he continues to promise less regulation, lower taxes and more fiscal spending, but has so far been slow on execution.
In the 100 days since Trump took the oath of office on January 20, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has jumped 6.3% while the broader S&P 500 booked gains of 5.2%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite soared nearly 9%.
Thats the fourth and fifth-best performance for a new U.S. presidents first 100-days on a percentage basis for both the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average respectively, according to figures from the Wall Street Journal Market Data Group. The best 100-day performance for both averages was seen in 1933, with an 86% advance for the S&P and a 79.7% jump for the blue-chip index under Franklin D. Roosevelt, who took office during the Great Depression, a few years after the 1929 stock market crash. Under former President Barack Obamas first 100 days, the S&P saw a 6.5% gain while the Dow rose 7.7%.

Not a bad thing!................
Really? I represent main and I give Trump an A! Maybe the part of Main st. you refer to is where the welfare bums congregate to drink and shoot up. The homeless day center perhaps? uh... Housing Project?
But the media thinks that straight-F Obumbo was a much better president.
My IRA gains have been smokin’ HOT since November; I can live with that.
I’ll give him a B+ :)
A from Wall Street, B from Main Street and D- from the folks down on Easy Street.
Meanwhile wall street gives obama 400k.
President Trump gets an A+.
Paul Ryan gets another F- for FAIL!
Trump gets an A from me.
I didn’t agree with the Ryancare dust-up, but hopefully we’ll get something better when it is finalized.
If it didn’t become law, I’m not going to dock his grade for it.
As for Ryan, he’s the typical RINO running interference, we’ve had to deal with for decades.
I’m over it Paul. F
Help develop a solid agenda.
Get behind and push a solid agenda.
Or get out of the way! Resign!
Democrats, F, cheating on exams, and disrupting the class...
Same here about a 15% increase since President Trump has been elected.
It’s been terrific. And I’m diversified into PMs and those have also gained; you either do well in one sector or the other...not BOTH at the same time!
I can’t explain it, but Mama Likes! :)
No joke, I didn’t think anybody was going to beat Jimmuh Karter for that title. I would actually be impressed if it wasn’t a major institution of my country we’re talking about here.
Same her - but if one looks at all the concern trolls we have on FR, and considers that Dems and other never-Trump types, are also polled as part of "Main Street", it isn't hard to believe that a poll could come up with those results.
