Watch Oliver Stone Interview Vladimir Putin for New Showtime Series (Video)

Vladimir Putin has been one of the most talked about figures in Russia, and now Showtime is about to release “The Putin Interviews,” a new documentary series where he will sit down for a talk with famed director Oliver Stone.

 

This is a project Stone has been working on for two years, traveling to Moscow and Sochi more than a dozen times to speak with the Prime Minister of Russia. The trailer shows his most recent talk with Putin this past February, where he gets right down to brass tacks and asks the question every Hillary Clinton supporter wants him to ask: “Why did Russia hack the election?”

 

Putin simply responds with a chuckle.

 

Along with that, Showtime and Stone are promising a wide range of topics during the four-part series, including Putin discussing his relationship with and views on every U.S. President of the past quarter-century, as well as his thought on the legacies of Stalin, Gorbachev, and Reagan. He will also talk about Russia’s aggressive tactics in Syria and Ukraine and Edward Snowden’s flight to asylum in Moscow.

 

But perhaps the most surreal moment of Stone’s visit might be when he takes in a movie with Putin that the prime minister has never seen before: Stanley Kubrick’s cold war satire “Dr. Strangelove.”

 

“If Vladimir Putin is indeed the great enemy of the United States, then at least we should try to understand him,” Stone said.

 

“The Putin Interviews” is produced by Fernando Sulichin, who has previously worked with Stone on “The Untold History of the United States” and “Snowden.” The series will run over four consecutive nights on Showtime, starting June 12.

I hear its a comedy series called “Hillary Clinton’s Funniest Bloopers and Screw Ups.” Putin is there with some “never seen before” footage of Hillary showing up sloshed to some Russian diplomatic negotiating sessions. He cues up the tape and Stone rolls the laugh track as she stumbles around and can’t seem to say the word “reset.”
