I thought this was a great motivational video.

I am 68 y/o and work out everyday...but, like all of us, I look for external motivation.

This video helps explain some of the issues surrounding motivation.

Ok that does it! No more sitting here on my butt. I'm jumping off the couch right now! To get some chips and a brewski.

Hey look. Saturday nights are nights off.

They are for drinking beer and planning next week.

Pass me a brewski while I add another mile to my next week training.

And quit hogging the chips.

I think he’s wrong. Laziness is not about unconscious incompetence. Laziness might exist for any number of reasons but the idea that it exists because someone is unconscious of their lack of a skill, ability or capacity makes no sense. Becoming aware of your incompetence does not make you less lazy. If anything, it would inspire more laziness.

My problem is procrastination. I was going to join a self-help group about it but I kept putting it off.

I'm listening--expand on your thoughts.

I posted the video because I thought it was motivating...but that doesn't mean that you don't have an even better idea.

Like many of us, I have wrestled with motivation and inertia all my life. And depression from time to time.

And occasional spurts of great productivity and even genius.

All advice is welcome.

Your fellow freepers and I welcome your--and all other Freepers'--input.

Like many here on FR, my biggest motivator to not procrastinate is a spouse... cause I love her..

Honest, it has nothing to do with all the nagging or threats!!!

I’m not lazy, I’m simply in touch with my inner sloth.
