AUGUSTA, Georgia, May 18, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) A woman in the last phase of gender assignment died Tuesday of complications from surgery, one of the last procedures in her effort to transition to the male sex.
Rebeccah Feldhaus, 25, who went by Rowan, had a hysterectomy and was readmitted to the hospital later after going into septic shock and losing oxygen to her brain.
Rowan knew the risks going in to all of this and he was willing to accept the risks to do what he knew he wanted to do, friend Austin Akins said.
Feldhaus was an Augusta University student and board member for the LGBT advocacy group Georgia Equality.
She had begun the transition process around two years ago, according to WRDW-TV, and petitioned the court last year to legally change her name from Rebeccah Elizabeth to Rowan Elijah.
A local judge denied the request, igniting backlash and national media attention.

A reminder to the science deniers:
That sums it up.
There is no such thing as “sex change.” Some things cannot be changed - age, race, sex.
Poor girl. Mental illness can be fatal.
Of course he died. If the surgeon thought he was removing a uterus from a man, the surgeon obviously is ignorant of basic anatomy.
Climate Change is settled science.
Gender assignment is not.

Ok the girl wanted to be a guy. Yet the eyebrows appeared to be plucked just like a girl. If a girl is no longer a girl then the eyebrows would be unplucked. At any rate, there are lots of girls who get jobs in traditional guy type jobs. Hopefully in the future the girls will not have surgeries to be a guy. They will just drive trucks and burp beer with the other guys and just keep their lady parts to themselves.
Surgery is nothing to play with. Many risks.
You can’t change nature. Chopping and grafting do not change what a person is.
Thinking that it does, is insanity.
Time Dante,
Time.
No doctor has the ethical right to do such surgery, which is an intentional maiming of a mentally troubled patient. The surgery was not to remove a diseased, or abnormal, or deformed, or cancerous uterus. It was to destroy a healthy organ, and expose the patient to unnecessary high risk ... for money.
Doc should lose his license, to say the least.
Agreed, but it makes me wonder if refusing to do the surgery would have made the surgeon open to lawsuits?
What a sick society in which we live.
It was a woman. Lifesite doesn’t play the media’s game of calling a she a he.
Just to clarify, I’m not saying the surgeon should be prosecuted because the patient died. I’m saying he should be prosecuted for doing the surgery to begin with. Intentional sexual maiming. Worse than FGM.
What is sad is how many leftists supported her decision to mutilate her own body.
A simple Q & A might have been a helpful to her:
“While your feelings declare that you are a man, your physiology declares that you are a woman. If you were to error on the side of caution when trying to determine your actual gender, which is more likely to be correct - your chromosomes, or your feelings?”
Can the State force a surgeon to perform a risky and invasive operation against his best medical judgment?
Sick society, yes. Soul-sick. And a conscienceless medical profession, which kills and mutilates on demand.
No one is objecting to the girls driving trucks. (Burping beer is another subject.) The issue here is compelling the rest of us to validate a fantasy.
