Circulation of daily newspapers has dropped to a 77-year low, signaling an end to print and a shift to all-digital delivery, according to a new industry review.
The Pew Research Center said that circulation has reached a new low of 34.6 million, six million less than papers sold in 1940.

Gannett bought out my state newspaper and turned it into USAToday, complete with every leftwing editorial possible. Before the buyout a digital subscription was something like $120 per year. They are currently offering me a one-year subscription for $9.99 — basically for free. I still don’t want it!
I have not subscribed to a newspaper since I became a member of FR in 11/1998
When you stop reporting the news and become a propaganda wing of the DNC, don’t be surprised
I’ve gone almost completely paperless.
Only paper I want is bills and my 4000 books.
It's charcoal starter.
Once I realized I was using next to none of the Sunday coupons, just reading Prince Valiant and maybe doing a puzzle, I stopped buying the paper altogether (and started reading Prince Valiant online).
Too bad they have the internet to blame.
It blinds them to the reality of the defects of their product.
Fishwrap? They wish. My cats wouldn’t deign to take a dump on our local rag.
I have the same set up on my Weber! Use once a week Chicago Tribune dog potty paper to start fire!
I honestly cannot recall the last time I picked up a newspaper.
Why buy a newspaper when I can make up fake news as good as they can.

Ditto!
1940 Population - 132 Million
41.6 Million circulation = 31% of population
2017 Population - 326 Million
34.6 Million circulation = 11% of population
(I don’t believe the percentage is that high, wonder what the circulation is when freebie papers at Hotels are taken out of the equation)
At home, we bet the St Pete Times. No, not for the articles or content. Just for the coupons. Were it not for the coupons which my wife uses often, we would cancel the subscription, which, btw, is only for the Sunday edition. If newspapers were to discontinue coupons, then their circulation would probably be around 10 or 20 million, and perhaps they would have closed shop by now.
Regarding the low total circulation, that number is actually a lot worse than it seems, since from the 1940s to now, the U.s. population has just about doubled.
Newspapers are 8 track tapes - if the media focused on news they would be able to read about it.
