They both were irresponsible idiots. And it is always funny to see online pissing matches between motorcyclists and car drivers. The motorcycle is nothing more than a bicycle with a motor. A car, even a fancy sports car, is nothing more than a four wheel scooter with motor. No romance. They are just tools. Like hammers, guns, water hoses, and nose hair trimmers.

"...if a motorcyclist cannot handle that type of traffic..."
If a motorist cannot prevent themselves from being filled with murderous rage over a traffic incident, they should opt for the bus, train, or simply walking.

If a biker is so stupid as to go around kicking cars at 60 mph they should opt for the bus, train or simply walking.

"...go around kicking cars..."
I'm sure there was plenty of jawboning and extended digits from BOTH of them not seen on film.
Seeking to amputate the legs of the motorcyclist or murder the motorcyclist over a traffic disagreement is...insane.
Even if the motorcyclist kicked the car completely unprovoked, it does not warrant a death penalty and the motorist (if they did topple the rider) would have also put others at risk.

The car obviously came after him, pulling a highly illegal crossing of double yellow lines to go after him. That in itself is a $$ fine in SoCal.
Lucky he did not go after a 1% type, those guys carry lengths of chain to deal with aggressive car drivers.

motorcyclist is a huge coward, but he’ll be hard to identify

FReepers on this thread who hate motorcycles (and motorcyclists) are typing some seriously unhinged / crazy posts. Ever read the bicyclist threads where some pickup drivers fantasize mowing down those hated "Spandex wearing" cyclists? Spreading nails and tacks on the road?

Southern California police are searching for a motorcyclist who was involved in an alleged road rage incident that injured one person on Wednesday.
Umm...why? They have the entire incident on video so they certainly don't need an eyewitness. The car driver tried to hit the guy on the bike. I don't care how big a jerk the motorcyclist was, there is no excuse for attempted murder-by-car. The fact that the berserk car driver managed to put his car sideways and rammed the divider is called "just desserts". The fact that the car driver then careened into a pickup, causing it to flip over, should be enough to send the car driver to prison for years.

kicking cars at 60 mph is not a disagreement.

In the 60s through 80s when I traveled (a lot) I carried a hammer stuck in my belt for those occasions. I smacked the fenders of several cars over 30 years, cars that would push me off the side of the road then wait for me up ahead, usually around a curve or would drive slow in front of a slow truck. The second time I used the hammer. Hearing the sound of hitting something causes a car driver to instantly swerve away from the sound. I smacked a yellow Toyota in Gainesville Fl in 79 when he pushed me into the median the third time. I had my wife on the back so was less inclined to hit back. He cut off traffic in the other lane with his swerve then chased us. I led him around Gville for a couple of miles then got tired of it and left him. In the café the next day a cop came in and sat beside me on the stool and asked me "as an experienced motorcyclist" why someone on a bike would hit a car with a hammer. I said that sometimes one car will repeatedly try to hit a bike. The first time is assumed to be accidental, the second time - one begins to worry. the third time the cyclist realizes he has to defend his life. Cop said."I kinda thought it was something like that. The most hated lawyer in Gainesville reported an incident yesterday and I thought you could enlighten me a bit, thanks."̣(paraphrased-it was a long time ago) Then he finished his coffee and left.

. . . the car trying to take out the motorcycle . . . That's exactly what happened. Experienced it a couple of times myself. Both times with middle-aged women looking at me then moving the car right over into me. The only evasion is to kick and quickly accelerate at the same time before the driver can react.
The motorcycle shown was very lucky. Wonder if the auto operator was a woman(?)

we don't know what transpired before the kick...could be that the car veered into the motorcyclists lane nearly hitting him....we don't know...
however, for every single car driver killed by a bad motorcyclist, at least 100 motorcyclists are killed by car drivers......its probably not even that close...

I’ve actually ridden my bike on that road a few times. The carpool is pretty wide. Every time I’ve used the carpool on a bike there’s always a motorist who decides to pass me in that lane which is A) illegal and B) dangerous as heck because the roadway is garbage. Hitting a bad part of the lane trying to dodge a car can wipe you out at 70+ MPH.
More than likely what happened is the car passed the biker shoving him to the edge of the lane. Biker lots his cool at kicked the car and the drive tried to kill the biker.
The person at fault? Both the biker and the car driver.

Kicking a car at 60 does absolutely nothing to the car besides dent it. Your foot can’t push car around.

The car driver screwed up and crashed all on his own, just how is this a hit and run?ALL participants in an accident are required to stop, regardless of who caused the crash. Anyone who takes off is in violation of the law. Depending on severity and other factors, this could lead to a misdemeanor or felony charge, with fines and up to 3 years in jail.
The biker and the driver should share a cell. They both deserve it.

This must happen all the time to motorcyclists. They are hard to see, and they zip around traffic, often in blind spots. I have seen motorcyclists on the interstate with traffic going at least 70 MPH, drive on the dashed white line that marks the lanes and squeeze between two cars that were not going fast enough for him when they were already going over the speed limit.
That was probably the stupidest thing I've seen so far, but many other incidents like that happen on a regular basis.
You can count on motorcyclists take ridiculous risks on the road simply because they have a smaller and lighter vehicle. n I am honestly surprised when I see a responsible biker follow the rules of the road and drive like an adult.
Until they stop acting like arrogant *#(*&#$@('s, then people are not going to take seriously all the *Watch out for motorcyclist* signs or care about their whining about other car drivers.
And yes, they are hard to see and for that reason, THEY need to exercise more caution in their maneuvers instead of doing what they feel like and then blaming the other drive for not seeing them.
When you are signaling for a turn or a lane change and starting it, and the biker decides to beat you out, they have no one to blame but themselves for almost getting hit.
