A truck full of eels overturned Thursday on U.S. 101, dousing a sedan with slithering sea creatures. Hate it when that happens. The eels — and lots of gooey stuff that will make you shiver in your sandals — are all over the road. It's a decidedly disgusting scene. You should probably stay away.

The eels are actually hagfish. Disgusting deepwater creatures which feed on sunken carcasses at the bottom of the ocean. I think Mike Rowe/Dirty Jobs had an episode on them. Feel sorry for the owner of the sedan which got doused in hagfish slime.

A buddy of mine had 4000 lbs of smelt on his pickup and the tailgate gave way on broadway in Eureka Cal. Dumped a couple of thousand pounds. He made it to the fishery and got out without getting caught.
