With regard to my defending Muslims, I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Please cite an example.
Less agile and less ambitious they were, than the Dutch Calvinists who destroyed all the dozens of statues on the facade of the Cathedral in Alkmaar, as far up as their scaffolding would take them; or King Henry VIII's agents who smashed and sacked the splendid Walsingham priory church and had the Catholic sub-Prior Nicholas Mileham hung, drawn and quartered.
No, I don't think it was Dutch Calvinists or malicious Anglicans who did this Pittsburgh desecration we're talking about. Could have been Muslims, who knows? They are today's most spectacular icon-smashers.
Or it could have been freckled drunken louts with a taste for desecration, like in my Tennessee town. I know Pittsburgh. Plenty of drunks in Pittsburgh.
