If you refuse to pay attention to the WNBA, you missed something cool Wednesday

Ivory Latta grabbed a microphone after perhaps the grandest Mystics win of the season and turned to address the crowd. At least, Im told she addressed the crowd. No one could possibly hear her. The crowd was too loud. The noise during Washingtons rather electrifying Wednesday afternoon comeback the Mystics, playing without their top two scorers, trailed by as many as 21 and never led in regulation was, I suggested to one Verizon Center regular, louder than 95 percent of Wizards games.

Little kids playing soccer is just as "cool" as WNBA. The NBA has been trying to shove this crap product down our throats since the inception of the league and the only people who follow the league are the L in LGBT.

I think media helps to set agendas, Leonsis said Wednesday afternoon. I mean, you either get neglect or snark [about the WNBA]
There was an episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show where Mary Richards decides to hire a woman sports reporter (unusual in those days) and sold her on the basis of her qualifications as a top athlete (women's swimming). She spent a majority of the sportscast reporting on swimming, especially women's swimming, and ratings suffered and she was released and Mary was embarrassed.
Fictitious story, but plays more like real life than the quotation above.

Here in Seattle within the last week, the local WNBA team announced a partnership with Planned Parenthood, and their star player came out as a lesbian - just the sort of things to broaden their appeal. /sarc.
To: C19fan
It might broaden (no pun intended) the appeal of these womens’ teams somewhat if more of their members were heterosexuals instead of either men in drag or ball-busting lesbian feminazis.
Women don’t watch womens’ sports, and if men do, they either want to see hotness or prowess (preferably both). They don’t want to listen to yet another screed about how having testicles makes them somehow subhuman.

WHAT? Is nothing sacred any more? A WNBA star player is, uh, NON-heterosexual? That’s it. I’m cancelling my season tickets. Oh wait. I never had any. Well it’s the thought that counts.
P.S. Is it just me or was susan rice a B-ball coach at one time? Dang memory.

Imagine this: I missed it and my life has continued just fine.

It’s a darned shame that I missed it but my sock drawer really needed rearranging. I guess it’s just a matter of priorities.

Doubt it.
I devote my allotted time for women’s sports to lingerie football. Hours of it on utube.

I stopped watching professional basketball, or any kind of basketball, when I realized that, it's the number one ambition of black kids all over the land, and as such, it's a killer sport, since a lot of potential is wasted early on in young people's lives. Even if kids eventually find out that they're not equipped to play professionally, it's still a big time waster in their arsenal of activities. I know first-hand how a young man lost his job because he didn't have the discipline to stay away from the basketball court, and lost his good-paying job as a computer programmer. I know, because I had to lay him off after having to go find him to figure out why he was out so often from work or arrived late or left early. His wife tried to beg for the company to let him keep his job, but she too knew that his first love was basketball.
Not everybody is the same, and I might be stereotyping many of them, but those kids need to have other dreams.

Last year here in Minnesota, the WNBA team came out in support of Black Lives Matter and did a cute little rap video all about it starring their white point guard.

Before I moved from CT, I was a partial season ticket of the Connecticut Sun (the WNBA team owned by the Mohegan tribe) along with the UConn women’s basketball team. Good league and I wish I could support the NWHL (National Women’s Hockey League) Connecticut Whale.

I am a self-avowed sports nut but I cant name a single team in the WNBA. Nor do I care to learn anything about the league.
