Aggressive Vegans Are Causing People to Avoid a Healthy Diet
Verdict ^ | 7TH AUGUST 2017

Posted on 08/10/2017 4:08:05 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Veganism in Britain has increased by 360 percent over the last ten years, as healthy eating takes a hold amid a widespread obesity epidemic.

In order to cut the risk of health related diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and stroke, many are turning to a plant-based diet.

This involves cutting out all animal products, including meat, eggs and milk.

Just 150,000 people followed a vegan diet in 2006, but that number rose to 542,000 in 2016. As a result, veganism is now the fastest growing lifestyle movement ever.

Vegan study - Verdict Even The World Health Organisation have turned their back on many meat products in recent years. Processed meats, such as bacon and sausages, have been listed alongside arsenic and asbestos as cancer-causing substances.

It’s understandable why people are so concerned. And yet, eager to save meat-eaters from impending doom, pushy vegans are putting many people off.

Vegan study shows people are put off by pushiness

A recent study looked into why meat-eaters are unwilling to adopt a vegan diet.

In total, 2,363 adult Brits provided an insight into why recent health warnings haven’t been enough to put them off of tucking into a burger or steak.

Vegan study - Verdict The top reasons for continuing to eat meat were:

I like the taste of meat too much (81 percent) Meat substitutes are too expensive (58 percent) I’d struggle for meal ideas (50 percent) My family eat meat and wouldn’t consider going vegetarian or vegan with me (41 percent) All four of those reasons are understandable. You would expect concerns related to money, convenient and enjoyment to top the list. However, the fifth most popular reason is somewhat more surprising.

The study revealed that 26 percent of people in the UK are put off of switching to a healthy diet because “the attitude of certain vegetarians/vegans has put me off”.

Dubbed ‘vegan aggression’, 37 percent of those questioned believe that vegans view their way as the only way.

Likewise, 25 percent of respondents claimed to have been lectured about their diet by pushy vegans, who are keen to introduce others to their healthy way of life.

Yet, it seems that these eager vegans are having the opposite effect.

As the study shows, there is a popular belief that vegans are pushy about their movement. A quick search for ‘vegan aggression’ will throw up terms such as self-righteous, unbalanced and obnoxious.

Despite its rising popularity, there are still many negative associations with veganism.

There might be something in it. A study conducted by researchers at McGill University in Canada anticipated that images of meat would increase aggressive behaviour in men. However, their results showed that meat actually calms men down.

Although, as is usually the case, rather than plant-induced anger, these attitudes towards vegans are likely the result of a small minority of aggressive vegans that have tarnished the reputation of many.

Eating vegan is not how humans were supposed to eat. And it isn’t the most healthful way to eat. But many humans have little choice, and some humans choose to for their own reasons.

Veganism misses the highest quality proteins. Unless you use protein powders, you won’t be able to get enough proteins without overdoing carbs.

I’m all for freedom and everyone eating as they like, but we are built and made to be omnivores. You don’t need to kill the animal, either, if you make use of its milk products and eggs.

Aggressive Vegans

What, are they jet-propelled with methane or something? Can't imagine aggression out of those limp dishrags unless it's just mouth. They're weak as kittens.

“This involves cutting out all animal products, including meat, eggs and milk. “

which means cutting out all vitamin B-12, which cannot be obtained from plant products.

however, the liver of a healthy adult who has eaten animal products their whole lives will contain several years supply of B-12; thus it takes several years before a vegan runs out of B-12, but when they do, they’ll sicken and die.

that’s why so many vegans seem well for many years, but then slowly start to feel ill, and start eating animal products again, at which point they “mysteriously” start to feel healthy again.

Haha, that’s the first thing I noticed, the oxymoron.

vegan = virtue-signaling, nothing more

Pea protein powder, now there’s a natural food straight from farm to table.

My son is currently dating a gal who is vegetarian, considering going vegan. She brought over some of those veggie burger patties the other night while I was doing regular beef burgers. While I have nothing against the veggie burgers themselves, my main problem with a lot of this ‘food’ is the amount of chemical CRAP that has to be put into them to make them tasty. I try to stick to whole, natural, UNPROCESSED food as much as possible, which includes MEAT. My angus burgers had a whole LOT LESS ingredients than those veggie ‘burgers’. And no, I don’t use a bun. I basically make a meat salad, which is what a burger is without the bun.

You don’t need to kill the animal, either, if you make use of its milk products and eggs.

Vegetarians have no problem making use of animal products such as milk and honey.

Vegans are nuts and refuse to use anything made by an animal. Which, if they carry it to it's logical conclusion, would result in their shunning insect pollinated products as well.

Vegetarianism occasionally occurs in a natural diet. Veganism does not. It is a totally artificial way of eating.

Ever notice that carnivores all have their eyes on front of their head?
Prey species have eyes on the sides of the head.

Where are your eyes on your head? Will Evolution;-) start moving the vegan’s eyes to the side of the head?

Unbalanced? Sure, when tilted so that a vertical line from their center of gravity falls outside their base. Try it, it's fun to unbalance them.
