Family returns home to find their walls and floors covered in blood after pet dog attacks intruder

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Chesterfield family recently opened their door to find a scene from a horror film. There was blood covering the walls and floors of their home.

The family said there have been several break-ins recently in the Ashbrooke neighborhood where they live. The family came home Thursday night to find they too had been the victim of a break in. They say thanks to a family pet, the would-be robber got away with nothing. In fact, he was lucky to get away with his life.

“We didn’t see anything wrong nothing at the front door,” said Tristan Murrin, the person who was first to find the gruesome scene.

But once they were greeted by their family dog, they knew something was very wrong.

“We noticed something when we walked in, when I walked in with my mother and there is blood spots on the ground, we looked up stairs and you see trails of blood coming from up stairs going all the way down,” said Murrin.

The entire upstairs covered in blood. Someone had broken in not knowing the family’s guard dog was inside, that intruder quickly realized they picked the wrong home.

“My dog, he’s a pretty big dog, it’s a larger German shepherd,” said Murrin.

Murrin says his dog has never been aggressive before, in fact, home videos show the same dog laying down and playing with a young child.

“He plays with the kids, the cul-de-sac knows him. They know him as big dog, the community loves him, the kids come up to him and want to touch him and play with him,” said Murrin.

Murrin says nothing was stolen, and that he is thankful his dog was not hurt, but also happy that the dog stood his ground.

“I think the dog did its job. He knew that someone was not supposed to be in my house and no one was home and he knows that he wasn’t supposed to be in there and he was doing something that he wasn’t supposed to be doing and so he knew to act upon it,” said Murrin.

The family suspects the intruder needed serious medical attention due to the loss of blood that was seen in the home. They are hoping by sharing their story the person will be caught.

Police did respond to the scene and say they are investigating. No one has been arrested but if you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers.

I’m not sure what my Cane Corso would do. Of course at his size (180 pounds) and bark, he would definitely make some one stop in their tracks. However if the would be intruder looked closer they would probably see his tail wagging faster than a cocker spaniels.

He used to sleep in my room but his snoring and farting all night would wake the dead as well as keep my wife awake all night. So we moved his bed outside my bedroom sliding glass door so now he sleeps right there. You can still hear him snoring though but we don’t have to deal with the farting.

LOL! Mine, the female, wants to sleep in bed, head on her own pillow. The male at the foot of the bed and yes, both snore, sounding like revving engines...I have earplugs...

Hopefully, the suspect will simply dematerialize. Some of those clowns try to pursue legal action against the homeowners. Prayers up that no harm befalls them or that good dog.

I always laugh at these home security commercials. What a joke. Get a big dog. I have two. If you think the sound of a big dog barking is scary you should hear two of them going at it. It will put the fear of God into any mortal. They also work 7/24/365. In all weather, under all conditions. They can identify friend from foe. I don’t have to call some loser with a head set. My only complaint is the off switch is defective.

My baby girl was an English Mastiff (124 pounds of devoted love and a killer instinct when necessary), I always found her snoring to be quite restful, her farting not so much.

We got an 8 Month Old Female Chow from a Shelter.

Two weeks later, someone broke in and Robbed us while we at work. Middle of the day in a great Neighborhood.

I think the Dog showed them where my Wife kept her Jewelry.

Great Dog, but dumber than a Box of Barbara Boxers.*
*(unless food is involved)

Al kidding aside, I was happy that the Dog wasn’t hurt by the Perp. She was all of 30 pounds at the time.

Anyone that would burglarize a Home has to be one evil SOB.
They deserve anything and everything coming to them IMHO.

Watch to see if the dog pukes up a finger. Seriously, that has happened.

Our youngest was born 20 years ago, at the time we had a miniature schnauzer. Just after she was born my mom came over to visit and the dog, who knew her well since we lived in the same town, the schnauzer attacked mom when she went to look at the new baby.

One morning my wife was taking the baby for a walk in the stroller and a neighbor stopped, bent over to take a look at the baby and the dog went from standing flat-footed on the ground to in the stroller straddling the baby growling

I told my wife that dog would die protecting our children.
