Both men were prominent promoters of the racist conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama wasnt born in the United States.
That statement is, of course, a damn lie.
First of all—as anyone who cares to look into the issue knows—this idea was initially fomented by none other than Hillary Clinton's campaign, back in 2008 when she was vying with Obama for the Democrat party nomination.
Additionally, there are several pieces of circumstantial evidence which do indeed point to the possibility that Barack Obama was born in Kenya—one of which is a sleeve for one of his books which unambiguously states it as a fact. As far as I'm aware, that book sleeve is not a hoax. There is other evidence as well, such as various friends and acquaintance on video and/or audio—if not Obama himself—citing the fact of his Kenyan birth.
At the very least, it appears that the exotic claim that Barack Obama was born in Kenya may have been politically useful to him sometime in the past, later being discarded when his political goals became more ambitious.
So the claim that it's merely a conspiracy theory—much less a racist one—is absolute balderdash...
