Tanzanias government is working with U.S. logistics company Zipline to launch what they call the worlds largest drone delivery service for emergency medical supplies.
In the first quarter of 2018, Tanzanias government will begin using drones to make up to 2,000 deliveries per day to more than 1,000 health facilities, Zipline said in a statement Thursday.
The service will be crucial in times of unexpected demand or bad weather and for small but critical orders, said Laurean Bwanakunu, director-general of Tanzanias national medical stores.
Since October 2016, Zipline has been operating a similar drone delivery service in Rwanda for emergency blood deliveries to transfusion clinics.

Cargo Cult 21st century?
This actually makes sense to me.
.
I have immediately detected a problem...
Sounds like a good idea to get vaccines/medicines to populations past the corrupt political regimes that often control/siphon off the supplies that are shipped in via convential means.
Bad weather and drones are probably not very good for the drones.
The roads there leave something to be desired outside of the cities. It allows medicines to be delivered quickly and without any human contact to keep pathogens contained.
Where’s that guy who claims to be in Tanzania?
I think he’s a fake.
I asked him if he had seen any vampires and he got all mad.
Maybe he’s a werewolf.
I can see Alaska adopting this route as well.
Good idea
It's hard to imagine such backward countries employing such technology with *any* success whatsoever.
Wonderful!
