Len Wein, ‘Wolverine’ co-creator and 'Watchmen' editor, dead at 69

Legendary comic book writer and editor Len Wein has died. He was 69.

Wein helped revive the “X-Men” franchise in 1975 with artist Dave Cockrum, creating characters including Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus and Thunderbird.

A year earlier, in “The Incredible Hulk” #180, he debuted Wolverine, who eventually joined the “X-Men” team in later years.

Len Wein was only 69? That’s pretty young for such a well-known comic book name.

Ugh, first Jerry Pournelle, now Len Wein, not a good weekend.

I have a lot of Comics with his name on them.

Just a short time after Swamp Thing co-creator Bernie Wrightson passed away. Both were 69 - too young in this day and age.

It’s been a long time since I read comics, but I remember seeing his name a lot on the credits page. RIP, Mr. Wein.
