Frank Vincent, known for portraying Phil Leotardo on The Sopranos, has died, his Sopranos co-star Vincent Pastore announced on Facebook. He was 78.
TMZ reports that he died due to complications of heart surgery after a heart attack. John Gallagher, who directed Vincent in Street Hunter and The Deli, also posted the news on Facebook.
Vincent was born in North Adams, Mass., and raised in Jersey City, N.J.

It’s pretty clear what happened in that final episode when you look at it. But I think Chase was a bit too clever with it, that people didn’t pick up on it.
I forgot about that one. 4 films together.
A few years ago, I watched it backwards. From last episode to first. Not sure why, but it worked for me. And just last week I was in the mood to watch the Pine Barrens episode. So good. No cable for me!!
Not for nothing, but I loved the final episode.

The ending was memorable, and years later people are still talking about, so in that sense it worked very well.
Almost every youtube video with Frank Vincent makes some shinebox joke.
I agree completely, I couldn’t believe so many people called the ending “brilliant”. It was lazy and a cop out.
OOOOOOoooo - yeah - that’s the one - there’s a special out on Netflix or Amazon Prime or such called something like “Behind the Scenes of the Sopranos” with outtakes and interviews of members of the cast - Vincent talks about filming that scene - says it was a tough shoot - they chained the SUV up so it could roll only so far and not over him during the first part of the shot, then he got out of the way, the chains were taken off and a plaster cast of his head put under the wheel to complete the take - he was a very personable guy when chatting - when he wasn’t in character killing people on screen.....
