Home Despot has their vendors build to the lowest junk spec to keep prices low. The product at Home Despot will have plastic components while the same manufacturer product at the specialty store will have metal internals.

I've noticed this as well at many of the big box retailers, particularly TrashMart.

Same name-brand product, vastly different guts.

Not always true. I think it is for some power tools but not other stuff.

I work for a company that sells a couple hundred million dollars a year to Home Depot. There is no difference in our products to them or anyone else.
