“Because it is evidentiary.... you know there’s criminal defense attorneys out there and this thing called the Constitution.... we’re comfortable that we have the suspect in custody...”

He clearly says it at 29:26 in the video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH9S6oyiOkA

Please watch again and tell me he doesn’t say what I’m hearing.

Now, he’s obviously tired. He may have misspoke.

But how do you have a dead man “IN CUSTODY” and why are you worried about defense lawyers for a DEAD MAN??

Re timeline:

Veteran, who alerted the cops to Vegas gunman’s EXACT location, demands to know why it took more than an hour for the hotel room to be raided as it’s revealed officers waited outside for more than 24 minutes
Police received their first report of gunfire at the Route 91 Harvest festival, in Las Vegas at 10.08pm on Sunday
But it was 72 minutes before SWAT teams burst into Stephen Paddock’s room
An officer told dispatch they were armed and ready to enter Paddock’s room at 10.55pm but were told to wait until SWAT arrived
After 24 minutes, SWAT teams burst into the shooter’s Mandalay Bay room at 11.21pm and found the 64-year-old had shot himself moments earlier
Police have not yet explained why officers were delayed
Chris Bethel, who was in a room just a couple floors below the shooter at the Mandalay Bay, had called the police to alert them to Paddock’s location
He is questioning why it took so long for the cops to respond

Before that he said “I don’t know if we’ll have future prosecutions” then added, “You heard me say we have the suspect in custody”

I missed that when I watched it live. Bizarre.

I think you’re letting your conspiracy desire over take you. First of all custody is absolutely a term used by law enforcement or officials if they have ownership of a person alive OR dead. Custody of his body.
The shooter Paddock is definitely the suspect in this mass murder and he is in their custody..dead but still.

The answer he gave about a defense attorney was to a question of why it was taking so long to comb through all the video etc. That is simple, there could be others charged OR once they present the case or evidence against Paddock if that’s how it’s turning out, they want to make sure they did all their procedures and chain of custody properly to prevent law suits from Paddocks family, or questions about if they got the right person or people.
