Cannabis users are more likely to commit violent crime, pioneering research has shown. It warned those who smoke the drug regularly run an increased risk of using violence against others. The project is the first to demonstrate that cannabis is not only linked with violent crime but is the cause...Researchers said that cannabis causes violence and they found no evidence that the link is the other way round ie that violent people are more likely to use cannabis...The academics said the effect of cannabis use was clear and not diminished by other factors such as patients who were heavy drinkers of alcohol.

I spent 25 years working on the streets responding to stoned idiots or those who came into contact with them. Marijuana definitely helps trigger psychotic and violent behaviors in many individuals. Marijuana and alcohol are both drugs which cause many to lose their inhibitions. And there are many people who have a lot of rage just under the surface who are able to keep themselves under control when they are sober.
When pot was first outlawed, there was a texas senator that spoke on the floor of congress. And said Mexicans were crazy and it’s smoking pot that makes them that way.
Science is catching up to the senator.
Tell the OP.
If you say so George.
“The type of people who smoke pot are the type of people most likely to commit crimes,”
Pure fantasy. Define the “type of people”, please.
“but in no way does the pot cause criminal activity.”
True!
“Pure fantasy”
Only to you. The rest of us know better.
This research will make the WeedWankers violently defensive.
Speaking from personal experience, I call BS on this. I was too busy enjoying my friends, fishing, or just otherwise chilling out.
Now I just kick back in my lazy boy.
HA! No it doesn’t. It makes you want to eat cake and stare at your aquarium. :-)
I believe more than pot was the problem there.
I’ve seen that sort of thing too, but the cause was not the pot.
Balderdash.
It's funny how conservatives typically scoff at such statistical shenanigans—except when it suits their prejudices.
But, even if such nonsense was true, everyone knows that nothing can compare to alcohol as far as triggering violence. Alcohol far surpasses anything else I've ever seen—and that includes hard drugs.
I'll take a stoner over a drunk any day of the week...
“Marijuana and alcohol are both drugs which cause many to lose their inhibitions. “
For those with thought disorders & other severe psychiatric issues this is true in some cases.
As a medical marijuana patient I can assure you cannabis does not lower my inhibitions or alter my moral compass at all.
Many years ago I used to drink & I can say to a certainty that alcohol definitely lowered my inhibitions.
Congratulations, this is the stupidest thing I’ve read today.
Thanks for sharing that fallacy of false knowledge :)
I guess that’s why I went out and shot up concerts with my AR-15 when I was younger.................
There is a spot in my yard where there is a lot of gravel and broken concrete in the soil.
All that needs to be dug out, and there are also a lot of big roots that require the Sawzall. Dig, Sawzall, dig, Sawzall, back and forth.
It is very slow going, but whenever I have free time I attack it.
Now I know that my all attacking was because of pot.
Thanks, pot, for helping me have a nicer yard.
There was a case in Dallas when some potheaded kids were smoking pot while riding public transportation. An elderly gentleman kindly asked the potheads to not smoke pot there. In response, the potheads beat him up with their skateboards, which ended up sending the elderly man to the hospital.
The potheaded kids were on pot during the time of their violence
The potheaded kids became violent in defense of their potheadism.
Fishing and pot sounds like a good combo!
It might even relax me to death.
Thanks for sharing a random event, VT.
I like how you tried to use one event anecdotally as validation for this ridiculously silly article.
