The pledge is a product of a socialist mindset. It should be ignored or eliminated.

Bring back prayers

From what I understand of that one has to stand during the pledge but one does not have to say it.

Nope.

It's settled law. And not an obscure one for someone in the education profession.

About as stupid as forcing him into a class with only black kids in it.

Are private schools able to set their own internal policies?

Free speech means all sorts of things can be said. Doesn’t mean you have to agree or listen

Exactly!

Summer of `42. Image and video hosting by TinyPic India doesn't have to like it but she can stand like everyone else or stay home, which is probably what she wants. Time for a test case. Bring it on libs. (And bring back corporal punishment.) Image and video hosting by TinyPic The Bellamy salute. His brother Edward (?) wrote `Looking Backward' a socialist wet dream.

OK, India is another Roseanne Parks test case they are fronting to spontaneously refuse to sit in the back of the bus. This one is a Colin, but same/same.

I am well aware of the previous salute to the Pledge of Allegience. I think proper protocol for sitting out the pledge is to stand but not place the hand over the heart IIRC. There are religious sects that foreswear any such oaths. Whatever....We never had any such issue when I was in school. But if kids today want to stand and not recite the pledge, then go for it. What do I care? After a while the whole thing will die out anyway. Kids see that it gets a reaction and continue to do it. If folks just ignore the temper tantrums, then after a while the whole shebang dies of its own inertia.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
