It takes a while, but it looks like they usually find weapons.

or at least parts of weapons. and the wounds inflicted by said weapons on the bones.

Battlefields of old are usually bereft of weapons, scavengers usually picked the remains thoroughly. One of the best producers or weapons are river crossings though.
