“makes it illegal for anyone to require special identification for a service anima or ask for the service animal to demonstrate the tasks it’s trained to do.”

ILLEGAL.

Oh, heavens we should make anyone prove anything.

“So many people lie about it that it ruins it for those of us that have a legitimate need,”

BINGO.

Require real certification for ALL so-called service dogs, especially those with esoteric “jobs” which CANNOT BE SEEN.

An easy solution would be that a “service dog” would have a registration number visible(like a license plate) on the animals harness. This would be registered and could be verified with a simple phone call. No great expense, no big problem, similar to a handicap plate or window placard. Problem with “fake” service animals would immediately cease to exist

This no-verification-allowed nonsense is just another example of the atrocious Americans With Disabilities Act. Congress wrote it in such vague terms that it became a lawyers’ employment special immediately. Congressmen and Senators don’t want to be held responsible for anything. They could have written a law that protected people with real disabilities and limited scammers ... in many areas. If it hadn’t covered enough people, it could have been amended. Instead it put many small businesses out of business and led to nonsense like this pit bull dishonesty. Congress has only gotten worse since then.
