The scandal deluging Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has deepened after US actress Rose McGowan publicly accused him of raping her.
In a series of tweets, McGowan also accused Amazon studio chief Ray Price of having ignored her when she made the allegation earlier.
Amazon has put Price-himself accused on Thursday of sexually harassing a female producer-on leave of absence.....
Addressing Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos on Twitter, McGowan criticized the company for doing business with Weinstein.
"I told the head of your studio that HW raped me," she wrote. "Over and over I said it. He said it hasn't been proven. I said I was the proof.".......

Normally I ignore this kind of story and write it off as National Enquirer or People magazine pap. But in this case, we as seeing what is becoming an indictment of the Hollywood culture. That makes it serious news.
This is gonna leave a mark on the whole industry. Expect allegations against a LOT of men with casting couches. The floodgates have been opened.
You saying you got raped is not proof (it seems to be the in things now to not verify allegations, not good). Also, I guess YOU worked with him also as did countless of you colleagues. Hypocrites all of them.
McGowan took a payoff to settle with Weinstein, so it’s hard to take her seriously now.
One of the problems here is, how do you prove that he raped her, after all this time? I am by no means defending Weinstein, but it seems to be pretty easy for women to accuse men of sexual harassment and even rape, without any proof. How do you know when it is true, and when a woman is making a false accusation?
It was Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos who said in regards to educational institutions that the allegations should be taken seriously and the innocence of the accused until proven guilty must be taken seriously.
That sort of sums up my reaction to the allegations.
Beyond that the potential for this to spiral into a “Feminist Inquisition” builds by the minute.

I have no doubt Weinstein is a despicable POS, but... those taking acting jobs and other rewards in exchange for sexual favors... what exactly do we call those?

Well, the NYT says it was a $100K settlement for sexual harassment in 1997.

That depends on the State the crime occurred in. Most states do have a SOL for rape but it varies from state to state.

I linked in a previous post to a Freerepublic thread about another Hollywood name being accused (oliver stone). It’s possible that previous allegations like the one you just mentioned will now get the light of day and others will come forward.
Once this sort of thing reaches critical mass, it’s hard to stop. It sucks everyone in, regardless of their power.
