Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he thinks NFL players should stop protesting during the national anthem and instead speak out against domestic violence.
The Republican former presidential hopeful sent a letter Monday to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith saying he believes players are showing disrespect for the flag and veterans. Players should drop the divisive political sideshow and speak out against domestic violence instead, the governor wrote.
NFL league meetings Tuesday offer an opportunity to strongly condemn domestic violence, Walker added.
My request is simple: stand for the American flag and the national anthem out of respect for those who risk their lives for our freedoms, and then take a stand against domestic violence to keep American families safe, Walker wrote. Thats something we can all agree on, and that just might help the NFL reunite with many of its devoted fans.

Too late, I won’t watch a bunch of players that only stand because they’re ordered to. They have already told me how they feel about my country.
The other day, a FReeper (I should have made note of who it was) posted this astute comment:
“Stop funding the people working actively towards your demise...and using your dollars to do it.”
Exactly. The horse has already left the barn.
I can understand the players’ excuse, they’ve all suffered too many concussions. What the hell is Goodell’s excuse?
eff the NFL. I have been done with them for over a year, now. It did my heart good to read how the “Denver Geldings” lost to the “Buffalo buffoons” yesterday.
I am happier now that I don’t have to think about football! My only thought is who cares.
I am officially done with Pro football and football players
This is a self correcting problem and it's time to let the situation correct itself
Too bad the spoiled, entitled morons of the NFL are going to be getting a graduate degree in applied economics from the University of Hard Knocks
If they’re this upset at the country, leave.
What type of a loser hates a country so much do to this but doesn’t have enough character to leave? If I hated a country so much I’d create a new life for myself elsewhere and never do something like attack the country.
These animals just hate America...and whitey. Period.
Yep. I hope they crash.
The NFL is so hypocritical. The spend a month wearing pink to “fight” breast cancer, but the players seem to think it’s their god-given right to beat up their women.
It was one of those grown up things you saw your dad do and because he did you wanted to.
Now, the No Fan League has screwed up the simplest business model in the world.
My tv has not been on any No Fan League games this season. I will not even watch the Superbowl.
For what? They’ve already shown us what they think. Pretending to care about domestic violence won’t change that.

Scroll down to the bottom of page 61 and look at Section H at the very bottom.
At this point, I want the N-Effing-L to crash and die. Nothing whatsoever will - or should - save it now.
My biggest regret now is that I spent many hundreds of hours watching NFL games that have absolutely no societal value. Those were hours I should’ve spent with my family.
Everyone needs to watch this video from a black police officer.

>>>”So Walker wants them to indulge in self-criticism? Not likely that will happen.”
Not likely, but I think that’s why it’s brilliant of the Gov.
Not joking: It hurts. But it is permanent.
My story too! I gave it up last year week two and know the “it hurts” well, after all we'd been through together and revolving our lives around games for over 25 years! Now I couldn't possibly care less and it's definitely permanent!
