55 year age difference between “cousins?”

Doesn’t seen possible for first cousins.

That and the age difference between mother and daughter makes me think the child was possibly adopted.

Mathematically possible but very unlikely.

Most likely either second cousins or first cousins once removed, i.e., the victim was the child of her first cousin.

Pearls Before Swine: Doesn’t seen possible for first cousins.

alexander_busek: Two brothers - one born in 1920, the other in 1945 (the mother was 20 years old at the time of the birth of the first son, and 45 years old [not unheard of] at the time of the birth of the second son).

The one born in 1920 becomes a father at age twenty, in 1940.

The one born in 1945 becomes a father at age 50, in 1995.

As the French say: Voilà!
