Good luck convincing him otherwise. Can anyone really hold out any hope for 90%+ of blacks in America? These outbursts, crimes, and protests seem to be an acknowledgment by that 90% themselves that they have given up hope of competing with anyone else (not just whites)...

In a sense, it is. Young kids, of any race, don't learn to think that all by themselves. Like other things, if it's really baked in, by age 10 or so(?), it's hard to correct. Our society is in deep, deep trouble.
