Seahawks DE Michael Bennett: Jerry Jones Threat to Sit Kneelers ‘Reminded Me of the Dred Scott Case’
Breitbart ^ | October 18, 2017 | Daniel J. Flynn

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett compared Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’s decision to sit players who do not stand for the national anthem to the Dred Scott Supreme Court decision. “It reminded me of the Dred Scott case: You’re property, so you don’t have the ability to be a person first,” Bennett told reporters Wednesday. “I think that in this generation, I think that sends the wrong message to young kids and young people all across the world that your employer doesn’t see you as a human being, they see you as a piece of property, and if that’s the case, then I don’t get it. I just don’t get why you don’t see us as human beings first.”

/src on/I will pull out that argument when my employer requires me to do something I don't want to do, for example, having to go attend meetings for the annual United Way campaign. See how far that gets me./src off/

Darryl Strawberry tried this black-victim ruse in the 90s.

A few concise, topical questions revealed he didn’t have a bleeding clue about Dred Scott or anything else.

Perhaps today’s ‘reporters’ might try the same and take the air out of these gasbags.

Somehow the players are ignoring the fact they’re employees working for an owner that’s running a business. Anything they do that hurts business can result in discipline.

I am hoping that the Players Union gets together and all the players go on Strike until Colin Kapernick gets a contract and is named the team’s starting quarterback.

The team does “own” you, you traded it for a multimillion dollar contract.

Now get to work.

It is very apparent that a significant percentage of the entertainers hired by the amusement enterprise known as the NFL absolutely loathe the customers and their values.

There is not one single thing that is preventing anyone from leaving these united states. But those who are asserting how horrible it is.... aren’t leaving.

The contradiction is easily visible.

The complaints are false and the complainers are lying. If they were telling the truth about how horrible it is, they’d leave. They’re millionaires - they can easily leave... but they stay.

Idiot.

What do you think McDonalds would do to an employ who took it upon himself to pass on his “Political Wisdom” to customers along with their order and their change?

He would be canned.

Does that make him property. NO. It simply means that employers can set rules of conduct.

OK, so we’ll have a communist country and the state will force you to do what they want. Just try not saluting that flag, idiot.

If you ask me....all of this is leading up to a strike in either 2018 or 2019. The owners will be divided enough that they can’t halt or prevent the strike. The players will wake up to realize after six missed games that the public isn’t really hyped up or concerned about the strike. By then, the ‘game’ is finished and everyone can go looking for their second career and polishing off their resumes.

I’ve saved a ton of money not hosting the usual Sunday afternoon parties for NFL football.

Not to mention the paraphernalia I didn’t buy.

And nobody - nobody - is complaining.

STFU you frigging Snowflake.

No they don't "own you", but employers have the right to set codes of conduct within their owned work environment when you're on their dime and time. I'd bet it says something to that effect within your own contract that you signed. As long as an employer is not breaking labor or other laws, they have the right to set certain standards, including behavior. You don't like it, quit and go flip burgers. Even then, you would be subject to a dress code and standards of behavior. Gawd, I'm sick of these over-paid, ungrateful crybabies.

Maybe Bennett needs to brush up on U.S. law. And employer has every right to discipline employees if they are using company time for their silly little protests.
