Landslide Lyndon was a star at a core competency of the Democrat Party: vote fraud!

...It claims LBJ was in the KKK. There is no evidence supporting the claim...Given LBJ's bigoted statements he made when he was trying to get the Civil Rights bill passed it is certainly possible...

LBJ's statements can be considered racist as all hell, sure, but so far, he's being proven correct.

True, many of the Democrat Dixiecrats switched to the Republican Party after LBJ’s Civil Rights Act was implemented. It was also promoted by part of a Republican “Southern Strategy.” I was alive and interested when all that was going on. Universities are NOT inventing this.

There is certainly a lot of secrecy for an act which the powers that be were pushing to be the act of a single individual.

Democrats were the party of slavery. When that was eliminated, they became teh party of the Klan. When that faded, they became the party of welfare. They have always stood for keeping blacks down. The only change is that black Americans are now on their side.

we would have known about it fifty-four years ago

Fifty-four years ago the journalists knew a lot of the dirt but they generally helped keep it covered. Kind of like Hollywood.

let’s not forget LBJ’s words when signing the Civil Rights Act, to the effect that the bill will have n-——s voting democRAT for the next 100 years. Let’s not forget the KKK was democRAT back in the day,

They switched AFTER the Republicans voted for the Civil Rights and Voting Acts?

Check your memory, granny.

Carter had meetings with them and made deals. It’s part of recorded history.

You mean the Democrats are tied in with the clan. I am just aghast with the news, it just almost unbelievable how the pure could have duped their followers

Not the least bit surprised. Those who knew him claim that he frequently used racial epithets. I had the privilege of spending a day with Barry Goldwater in 1986 and spoke with him about his book, “With No Apologies” (a great read if you haven’t read it). Senator Goldwater knew Johnson very well and referred to him as “...the most hateful bastard I’ve ever known.”

I remember my mother reading that book and being repulsed by the way he hunted...putting bait under a tower and then shining the light on the target from the top of the tower.

Now that I think about it, it was rather like Oswald's perch...

I just responded because of the term “most”. It’s quite an exaggeration to say most democrats in Texas during the 1960s were in the KKK.

After all there were reportedly about 40,000 KKK throughout the U.S. in the mid 1960s and the population of Texas then was roughly 10 million.
