Is that service dog a fake? Under federal law, you can’t even ask

Neither the vest from the accredited training program nor the certificate are required under the ADA. The ADA says anyone can train their dog, or miniature horse, to perform a task that mitigates or helps them with their disability. Professional training is not required. ADA also specifically prohibits cities, merchants and others from requiring proof that a dog is a service dog. It allows, in fact, only two questions. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Service dog owners may not be asked about the nature of their disability. They may not be required to provide documentation of the dog’s training. Nor may they be asked to demonstrate the work the dog is trained to do.

Muslims hate dogs, so maybe everyone needs a well trained “service dog”....

A fake service dog killed a real one a few weeks back:

If there weren’t so many stupid ‘health’ regulations about where you may bring your dog (my American Bulldog is trained as well as all but a few specialty service animals) jerks wouldn’t have the incentive to call so many ill trained animals ‘service’.

I’ve been to restaurants in other countries that permit (well behaved) dogs that put to shame many of the ones here that don’t allow them. As with smoking, it should be up to the owner of the establishment.

Not to say the people with fake service animals aren’t jerks, but I kind of get their frustration.

Anyone who doesn’t like dogs might as well be a moozie for all I care, I ain’t gonna trust them.

You don’t have to ask. A real service dog has lots of training and is very well behaved. All those emotional dogs and faux dogs ain’t well behaved and can be asked to leave because they are causing trouble

Does that person have a driver’s license and insurance?

What if no one could ask?

What with every fat, obese Wal-Mart shopper in a mobility cart being legally “disabled”, and now grownup snowflakes carrying dogs everywhere they go - they will soon turn the tide of public opinion AGAINST those who are truly disabled.

I was eating in a crowded Panera and some lady brought in a big unruly dog . I moved to the other side of the table and it kept banging up against the chair and the table

I can’t say it was a fake..but my gosh..have some consideration.

There were dogs in grocery stores, restaurants, shopping arcades, everywhere when we lived in Belgium. Only problems were out on the sidewalk where you met the lazy side of the Belgians. On a leash a dog is more polite than a lot of people (and yes, they’re like garlic for vampires to Muslims).

If you would take just a moment to follow the link, you'll find "impaired vision or hearing, seizures, diabetes, autism, Alzheimer’s and other conditions." And read the excerpt above this thread again. Do you see? No "accredited training program!" No "certificate!" Train the animal yourself! Go for it!

I'll be back in a little while. Going to print something out here and take my dog to town.

C'mon, Fred! Let's go get a hamburger and fries! Then, we'll stop off at the supermarket!

Last year in our Walmart store I asked why this elderly, obviously poor couple had brought their ancient, one eyed, scab covered rat dog into the grocery area, they replied in unison: "He's a service dog."
My reply: "That's nice, I'm an astronaut."
There's another loon here in town with a five foot Boa Constrictor claiming "service animal" status - he goes into Safeway with the snake around his neck and the store lets him.

Yeah I saw a patient with a “service dog” recently. The dog was little lap dog, and as soon as I entered the room it went nuts. Snarling biting, barking, completely out of control. If that was a service dog, I’m the Pope.
