Lost potential is a common theme of Kennedy-family lore. It's hard not to imagine what Bobby, President Kennedy, and JFK Jr. might have accomplished, had they not died so young.
John Jr. would be making a run for the White House right now, if he were still alive. At least, that's what Jackie Kennedy's former personal assistant thinks.
"If her brother wasnt gone, hed probably be running for president," Kathy McKeon said in a new, wide-ranging profile of Caroline Kennedy in Avenue magazine.
"When Caroline was growing up, she always said she wanted to be a wife and mother, and she is a very good mother. But the Kennedys are go-getters who never give up, and after John died, I think Caroline had that sense of duty in her to follow in her fathers footsteps, and I believe shell pull it off," McKeon continued.
"I really think she might be the first lady president."
One supporter even went so far to say that Kennedy is "the next Hillary Clinton, but without Hillarys baggage."

Many have speculated that more promising option for continuing the family political legacy would be to help her son Jack Kennedy Schlossberg become the new face of the Kennedy dynasty.
"My bet is that Caroline knows that and will make the smart move and run Jack," one Clinton-camp insider said about the future Congressional races in New York. "The boy is 24. He has the magical Kennedy name."
"Female voters will love him."

An interesting post here a week or so ago where Teddy was on the boat when the plane wreckage was raised from the ocean. Apparently, what he saw made him turn white as a sheet, he ordered the plane to be covered, and Navy team who raised it were sworn to secrecy. Arkancide.
Despite what the “rags” say, because JFK, Jr. grew up under the influence of his mother, he avoided most of the issues that was the downfall of other Kennedy clan members. Had he lived, he would have won two terms in the Senate from New York State in 2000 and 2006 (he’d probably be living in the same neighborhood that Clintons now live in now at Chappaqua, NY!) and would have run for President in 2012—and win.
JFK jr was an undertrained under qualified novice without instrument rating who flew into a fog at night and believed his feelings over his instruments and augered into the sea.
He had the Kennedy overconfidence like his cousin who flew down black diamond slopes playing football and plowed straight into a tree.
No doubt he could have tried, the Hyannisport swamp runs deep
Ya know Ya know Ya know. She is a moron.
He killed himself, his wife, and her sister by flying in conditions for which he was unqualified. Poor judgment does not make up for glamor.
The Bessette parents must have been destroyed by his rashness.
And Caroline - overbred, underfed, and for all her grievous losses, still living in cotton wool.
Not a snowball's chance...
The most valuable gift that the corrupt Kennedy clan have left the American people is an abiding and permanent revulsion for political Dynasties. And if the Kennedys didn't make it clear, the utterly corrupt Criminal Clintons just reinforced the obvious.
The late incompetent dullwitted embassador to GB should have made it as clear as necessary.
No political dynasties should be a seriously considered Constitutional Amendment.
Crony Capitalism on steroids...
I agree.
Complete amateur flyer.
Another well-dodged bullet.
Recent history hasn't been all bad!
He was royalty. Of course he would have run, if Hillary hadn’t taken him out him for wanting the Senate seat she had to have.
No I’m starting to question his accidental death.
He could possibly have won but it would have been, as someone said above, for style, not substance. However, everything I've read about him says he was a decent guy despite having every advantage anyone could possibly have.
Doubt he would have been the money/power monger Hillary is or the ideologue Obama is.
I know your sarc tag was implied, but still - that’s a DUmmie comment
What is it with so many wanting to create some sort of royalty/dynasty aspect to being President of the United States of America?
Between the Kennedys, Bushes, Clintons- it is insanity. Enough already! We don’t need to even consider someone based on their name. The media hypes Chelsea, and numerous Kennedys, this Bush and that Bush...there seems to be no end to it.
Anything I’ve ever read about him he didn’t really want to hold public office but tended to do what his mommy told him to. He probably would have run some half-hearted campaign at some point and maybe ended up with Uncle Teddy’s Senate seat, but that’s about it.
I agree.
Unless he were dead. Which he was
