Again, why bother? It’s over. The ass-kissing fans will ignore anti-Americanism, the patriotic former fans have lost their appetite for watching these thugs run around the field.
A universal admission, by the kneelers themselves that they chose the wrong venue. An admission that they have been used like tools by the SJW crowd, and were too stupid to know it. An apology for doing so, and a commitment that they will never again be that stupid. A dedication by all of them that they will, from now on, support and defend the police forces of the United States, while only opposing the most egregious examples of police brutality, proven in a court of law. And lastly, admit that it was our country they were protesting, not some bullshit lie about social justice. I could watch a game, only then.
Cyanide tablets.
Maybe if they played with a round ball instead of a pigskin.. That could be why we don’t see a lot of Muslim wide receivers and tight ends I guess..
Why do bad things hurt so much more when self inflicted? This must be jerking some of the owners chains pretty good about now.. empty seats,, probably made in China anyway ( oops is that unPC?)
maybe free joints,, hookah lounges,, and cheap munchies.. worth a shot.. (oops worth a try .)
“The NFL became the most popular professional league when MLB had their short season/strike/lock out fiasco. They have since recovered, but it’s still not like it used to be.
I believe the NFL has damaged themselves in the same way. If they recover it will take years”
I completely agree. I’ve been a huge baseball fan since 1961 but the strike (and steroids) turned me off to the sport for almost 10 years. On the other hand, I’m watching the Detroit Lions more than I have in a long, long time because they finally have a decent team and a terrific QB.
I’m choosing to not let the actions of a minority of the players to piss me off so much that I boycott the sport.
Once we get to spring 2018 and new contracts and the draft, I think all heck will break loose, and a strike will be discussed. At that point, owners will realize the lost value of the club system.
What does that have to do with the NFL?
Nothing. I won’t watch another NFL game. Ever. And I won’t support any company that sponsors the NFL. Ever.
Short of firing every protesting player for breach of contract and flagrant violation of the NFL's 'Game Day Rules', I don't know that there's any way to restore order, and save the league.
Do the owners have the guts to do that? No, they don't. They fear the players, their supporters, and the press. They're frozen in indecision, even though they see the potential for financial catastrophe looming before them.
I think most of them are quietly hoping that this whole thing will fizzle out and go away all on its own. I think that's a foolish hope.
This thing is likely to get a lot worse before it gets better.
Maybe eventually the game survives, but not the stadium experience. With UHD tv and instant replay and hi fi sound systems IN home, everybody can eat surf and turf and get away cheaper that driving to a chilly, noisy stadium. Plus, at home the bathroom line is short!
“Its too late for me. I already know how they feel and how they act at this point doesnt change that”.
Same here. Besides, we know anything they do will be insincere. It’s too late, they’ve shown their true colors.
” I don’t have a problem with it”
I do. Sports USED to be a politics-free zone that was pure escapist entertainment where folks of different political bents, different ethnic backgrounds, etc. could get together for common cause. But no more. Leftist political poison has now been injected, and now many care more about the kneeler count than the actual final score.
The NFL royally F-ed up by allowing their employees to ruin the show. Because we’ve been forced to actually think about it, fans are now waking up from the spell of emotional attachment to “their” team, and when that happens, they realize there’s way more important things in their lives and they’ll never come back.
Commissioner Kaepernick.
I have never had anything significant in common with professional foot ball and the NFL except what I thought was love of country and patriotism expressed by the pledge of allegiance and the national anthem. But now, the NFL’s refusal to take a firm stand against anti-Americanism demonstrated by a significant number of ungrateful players leaves me with nothing in common with professional football and the NFL.
And to top it all off, we find that the US military must pay the NFL for the “honor” of the honor guard flag presentations and fly overs. The money is better spent at the collegiate level.
Time too, to cut tax advantages for stadium bonds and exemptions from monopolistic practices. The NFL is a business and should be treated as all other businesses.
Nothing. They’re finished.
I proposed this before, make Vince McMahon the new NFL Commissioner to clean up this mess. He will make it not only right, but entertaining.
He is also famous for the words “You’re Fired!!!”
“Also, another force is at work here. Younger people tend not to be football fans. NFL football is a sport for the older people. My own kids had absolutely no interest in football whatsoever even though I always had it on in my house when they were growing up. They were more into their chat rooms and other internet related activities. This was back in the 1990s and early 2000s. Now they are grown up and they probably couldn’t name more than three NFL teams. So I think the NFL has had their glory days and they will be slowly fading away. The disrespect of the anthem is only accelerating that decline.”
yeah, i’m seeing the same thing. a good friend my age (recent retiree) who has been a rabid football fan has two young adult boys who have no interest whatsoever in football. They were taught the love of good food, and weirdly enough they enjoy the company of their elders, but no amount of good food is enticement for them to show up at a football get-together.
Football could easily end up like Oldsmobile and Sears, where their customer simply all died off without any replacements from the next generation.
