If Roy Moore issues a firm, direct, unequivocal denial, it'll be fine. However, if Moore dodges the question, hides behind, “You can't prove anything”, or issues a non-denial denial such as, “It's too bad we aren't focusing on the issues”, he's toast. In cases such as these, “proof” isn't really the issue. It's all in Moore's hands. If this story is 100% bunk, he can make it go away by calling a press conference immediately and answering questions.

If you had read the article you would see that they wrote of this fourteen year old girl but then mentioned three others, two of which he actually dated when one was almost nineteen (and legal) and the other supposedly seventeen but with her parents approval. He did not date a sixteen year old because her parents said he was too old for her. Nothing sexual happened with either of the three girls.

That of course means candidate Roy Moore cannot make a blanket statement that the article is all lies. He will be forced to parse whatever answer he gives. The Communist journalists are really crafty with their mendacity.

I did read the article, but I now see what you mean about the dangers of a press conference.
