Some people claim that LSD opened them up to being very creative, getting in touch with the essence of the universe, and gaining great wisdom.

There's this video where they gave small amounts of LSD to some test subjects. They also gave them paper and pens in order to write down all the wisdom they were gleaning during their trips.

After they got down from their highs they all talked about these wonderful inexpressible experiences they had. However, they were not that impressed when they were shown the scribblings they made during their supposedly enlightening trips.

Reminds me of high altitude training in the Air Force. Put you in an altitude chamber, pump it down to equivalent of 30,000 feet, have you take off your oxygen mask, then write something on a clipboard. What you're back to normal pressure and read it, you wonder how you wrote such gibberish. Really brings home to you that your brain isn't working well under those conditions.
