The estate of the late, great Dick Clark has just price-chopped his beloved Malibu hideaway by $250,000, bringing the price down from $3.25 million to $2,995,000.
After two years on the Malibu housing market, this Flintstone-esque home atop a bluff got a price cut for the second time, as first reported by Curbed. It came down $250,000 in the summer of 2013, and without a buyer in sight, the price has been reduced by a quarter million dollars once again.
One of Malibus landmark properties, Clarks stone home features unparalleled 360 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands, Boney Mountains, Serrano Valley, Los Angeles sunsets and sparkling city lights.
This unusually imaginative architectural creation is nestled atop a mountain on eye-popping 22.89 acres and features 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms, as well as breathtaking ocean and mountain views. Truly exceptional and one-of-a-kind from within and without the architecture of this home seamlessly marries form and function.
The interior space is extremely voluminous and features an expanse of glass to capture the views from every room of this home. Vaulted ceilings enhance the living room and dining room with its wood burning fireplace intimate seating areas. The master suite is at spacious and intimate. According to the listing agent, this is art as architecture at its finest.
Clarks Malibu retreat offers seclusion, privacy and serenity, but it still just minutes from the beach. Before his death at age 82 in April 2012, Dick and his wife Kari used this home as a weekend getaway.
Had an awful supervisor who I mentally ran rings around. he would write me up for made up things because he was intimidated by my knowledge, but the manager would undo it and tell him that I was right.
He tried to make nice after that and told me ...(my name), youve turned yourself around 360 degrees.... I smiled and thanked him. He was absolutely right. And I wasnt going to correct his confused mind.
If I was a kid this would be the coolest thing Ive ever seen. I dont know how I would feel about living here though (especially at this price). Would be a shame to tear it down.
Rock house ping...
Have your ever been to House on the Rock?
Very near your description.
Buy and build section 8 housing on it.
Ewww, no thanks.
SELLER: Dick Clark
LOCATION: Malibu, CA
PRICE: $3,500,000
SIZE: 1 bedroom, 2 bathrooms
I can still hear him yell, “WILMA”!!
No, never even heard of it. But I'll look it up. Thanks.
interesting
It looks like a tear down.
Well worth it. It's quite a fascinating place.
Although I like very much several things about it, I agree about the kid-like/cartoonish quality of it. My concept would be more serious-minded, a mix of realistic rock formations, spectacular natural scenic views, and natural art/exhibit displays.
Neanderthal Man Hotlegs (10cc)
Troglodyte & Bertha Butt Boogie (Jimmy Castor Bunch)
Most people who would buy this place would want to tear it down and rebuild, so the actual cost will be considerably more than the listed price, which is why it’s still sitting on the market. Great location, but I can’t imagine anyone actually wanting it as-is.
But while we're on the subject, certainly can't leave out this amazing creation by legend Frank Lloyd Wright...
I like this house but to me it has a office building look to it.
The article is from 2014. I doubt if the home is still on the market. Would be easy enough to check though.
