The staph infections apparently did damage to the valves - the ‘anti-backup system’ - in my veins. I have diminished return flow in my lower legs, hence the compression stockings. My right leg’s lymphatic system was damaged and the fluid transfer in the tissue is compromised. Both legs have visible venous stasis dermatitis; the right leg is worse, but oddly while that one had deeper damage from the infection, it’s the left leg that has more visible chronic issues.

My father-in-law had something very similar, with a gangrene issue. He underwent an experimental therapy and went on a special diet and after four months, his legs, blood, and diabetes were all cleared up.

It’s been exceedingly hard to get the details of what actually was done, but all of the doctors he saw for years who said he could never get better say this was a miracle.

My wife will try to dig further for details.
