Pretty much every study on this issue supports the same finding: fasting, or a ketogenic diet (you go into ketosis whether fasting or on the keto diet), ends up repairing the body, reversing disorders, and making you stronger. Even tumors have been observed either to stop growing or get absorbed by the body by such methods, though it doesn’t work for everyone. Might depend on the type.

This isn’t good if you’re like an African and one day without food will turn you into a snack for a vulture. But if you are overweight, have diabeties, are at risk for cancer, or even have cancer, you should be considering fasting or a keto-diet.

Cancer cells (most, or all?) are unable to manufacture glucose as I understand it. It stands to reason that if you go to ultra low to no sugars you’re going to starve it.

Didn’t see your post before I posted mine. The ketogenic diet is an exciting medical breakthrough. I do find it difficult to get in enough fat, though. The recipes for “fat bombs” don’t appeal to me, even though I love candy and sweets. And I don’t like fatty meats, either, but as I said, after Thanksgiving, we’re back on it. Our eye doctor convinced us of its value.
