Oh, yeah. NOW they think he should have resigned. Same players. Same game.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

This is not a round of golf, you know. When the game is finished, the different strategies for playing off each hole may be discussed endlessly, but that does not change the final score.

However, political actions do not end. Each builds upon all that has transpired before, with sometimes unknown, unintended or just plain catastrophic effect. An ever-shifting landscape, and many times, with no direction possible but to keep on going.

So Slick “shoulda” resigned, and frankly, that may have been the best possible outcome, even though Al Gore would almost certainly have been elected on his own as the incumbent in 2000, and George W. Bush (or whoever earned the title of “designated loser” that year) would have been an asterisk in the history books. With the Clinton Team reduced to insignificance, and a compliant President Gore in the White House, George Soros would have had a much more free hand to “reshape” America and its relation to the rest of the world, so an obscure state Senator from Illinois would never have risen very far.

But all that is purely speculative.
