If funny isn't it today, then perhaps Carole King's "Tapestry" for Tasha Yar and Data from Star Trek Next Gen, a really beautiful piece.

Leslie Fish is a very strong filker and fascinating individual.

I liked her song for “The Weapons Shops Of Isher” and for the Lightships.

I used to buy her albums on cassettes back in the day.
C.J. Cherryh was also a filker.

I have the Minus Ten and Counting Album, and a bunch of others. Haven’t digitized them all, but I should. Beautiful link. I forgot about Cherryh being a filker. I don’t think I remember hearing her.

If you don’t watch it, MoviePhone is going to get angry at your use of filk.

What do you mean? These filk videos are from 1986 and so. I’ve played them for Julia Ecklar and for Leslie Fish. What is MoviePhone?

“The Day It Fell Apart” is hilarious and thoughtful.

Absolutely. Met her at a convention once.
Tom Smith is also cool!

Never met him. Any pointers to his work? I’m drawing a blank. It’s been such a long time since I’ve gone through my old tapes.

Filking is such joy. So much cleverness, talent and the chance to sing along.

I didn’t know “filking” was a thing, but I suspect you’re right about MoviePhone’s objections.

Tom Smith's Fenton

Haven't found anything with really good audio, but he seems like a lot of fun.

“So it turns out Kramer’s phone number (555-FILK) is just one number away from the Moviefone number (555-FILM.) Where most people would just change their number, Kramer sees a business opportunity and takes action. What time is Firestorm playing, sir?”

Never watched Kramer. You don’t pick a number like that accidentally, and I know of no definition for filk other than the amateur singers singing about TV and movies, which has been around for decades. Interesting.

Tom Smith - 307 Ale

(chorus)
Three-Oh-Seven Ale, me lads, Three-Oh-Seven Ale,
The finest drink that any bar has ever had for sale,
It’ll lay your whole damn world to waste, it’ll make you fit and hale,
There’s nothing that you’ll ever taste like Three-Oh-Seven Ale, me lads,
Three-Oh-Seven Ale.
