15: "He was such a good dog. Everyone loved him."

LOL. What was the dog's name? I bet there was a "Ja", "La", "arious", "Q", "eesha", or apostrophe in its name.

Depends on how you define discipline. I wouldn’t have a problem someone telling them to get away from the fence.

Besides, I wouldn’t have to worry about a child attacking and killing an innocent person.

But the dog remembers the offense.

And I’ve heard the “Not my kid. “ defense before.

You are aware of how dog breeding works. I am assuming that. Maybe I’m assuming wrong.

I had a pit bull once, took it over from a friend who was forced to give it up. Good natured friendly dog. Seemed ok with kids, though I never tested that. Was never trained to fight. Ever. But when I took him for walks he would LUNGE at other dogs from his very short leash with choke collar. And it was a good natured lunge, no growling, no barking, no raising of hackles. But I just knew... he wanted to sink his teeth in one of those canines.

And he was a cat killer. Which is the reason I was given him. My friends wife’s cat was found in little pieces around the house. It was get rid of the dog or say goodbye to the wife.

I used to play ball with that dog. Had a thick rubber ball and when he latched on I could pick up the ball and swing the dog in the air and he wouldn’t let go. Later he would give it back to me so I could bounce it against the wall again so he could try to grab it out of the air. He would play past exhaustion. He had so much heart. And so much bite. It was his breeding.

it will definitely take out a wild animal like a charging Pitbull.”

Perhaps you are a total master of the kubotan (not kubaton), but I certainly hope there will be someone nearby with a sidearm if you should ever have to defend yourself with a kubotan against a pitbull attack.

....
Yeah, my p320 or 229 would do better, but i don’t carry them with me usually. I know i could take down a pb with my kubotan. That is why i carry it. But thanks for the concern, i think. I also don’t park backed up nor do i sit in the “see every exit and angle” in my frquented restaurants.

Children will be children. That’s just a fact of life.
And people should be held responsible for their dogs.

I don’t like or trust pit bulls. I don’t want them near. Statistics prove me right.

am sure you would agree those people should be shot

Yes, although I would add that the people who should really be shot are the people who bred them in the first place. But you would need a time machine to be able to do that.

If you damage the dog you will get sued big time. Better to kill it.

I believe you’re right.

If a pit bull got in my home, I would prefer not to kill it but I would not hesitate if I felt threatened or if it threatened anyone else in my family. In fact, I would go after the pit bull owner for letting their dangerous animal out and putting me in danger.

I feel sorry for the lady and it may not have been a necessary shoot...

...but...

Controlling/Containing your dog is one of the main principles of Responsible Dog Ownership.

It prevents occurences such as this from happening.

Fences do a better job keeping dogs in than keeping stupid out. Most problems between kids and dogs are due to ignorance on the child’s part. Used to have a neighbor girl with scars from when she stuck her head in a doghouse. She’d always walk up to the window of the truck and stick her face next to the glass. Surprised the dog. Vigilance should be constant with dog owners and parents.

“How does it work ? How do you use it or apply it “

A kubaton is close combat impact weapon that can be used to control or deter an attacker. It can be effective on a human but I would want something more substantial for a raging pit bull. Something that would be an instant fight stopper like a 9mm or a short handled “hawk”

"How many golden retrievers have mauled children to death? How about German short hair pointers? Or German Shepherds?"................... How about black labrador retrievers? My American bulldog was attacked by two separate, vicious, unleashed black labs while I walked him on leash on the road in our neighborhood......... I kicked hell out of the first one. The second one got a face-full of pepper spray and I carry a collapsible baton as well. The second time the second dog ran at us, he must have recognized us and stopped like he'd been pole-axed. So it's not just pit bull terriers. Believe it or not, otherwise it's a nice neighborhood. ....... Having said that: Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I respectfully disagree. This particular breed of dog was designed with an explicit purpose in mind. So, the inclination to do or behave
what they were bred for is latent. Of course, environment plays an important part as to whether or not the animal displays it’s designed behavior. Bottom line... Despite being in a loving and nurturing environment, it’s latent genetics can erupt to the surface at any time...
