I don’t like plastic grocery bags. My groceries end up spilled all over the back seat or trunk. Sometimes they split, spilling my stuff on the ground. And they blow all over the city & into my yard. They are in the lakes, streams, & oceans; a hazard to wildlife.

I grew up with paper bags. They stood up in the car & on the kitchen counter. As a kid, there were a thousand uses for a paper bag. Yeah, they had a problem if they got wet. Still, they were far superior to plastic bags. And they come from a renewable resource & they are environmentally friendly, almost melting in the rain.

Some company needs to bring back the paper bags & coat the bottom 1/4 with wax to resist moisture just as a paper cup does.

Actually, the law was put forth in 2 parts. Part 1 banned the bags. Part 2 gave the money to the state for certain reasons (can’t remember them). Anyway, Part 1 passed but Part 2 didn’t so the stores themselves get to keep all the money from the bags they sell.
Most people don’t know that.

As long as all the paper bags have handles I am in agreement.

aving lived with the bag ban for two years, I see no problem. It is actually better, much better.

I shop mostly at warehouse clubs, where customers can take the corrugated cardboard cartons products were shipped in, to transport their purchases to the car and home. I reuse the cartons to put out my recycling by the curb.

As a kid, there were a thousand uses for a paper bag.

Such as covering one's schoolbooks. Then, you could doodle on them in class.

I don’t know if that’s true or not. I was just stating what happened.

I live in a clean state and we have no plastic bag in trees problems.

Perhaps there is a better way than banning bags.

Teach the pigs to put their trash in trash containers.

In our state one must have the option of paper or plastic bags. I always take paper, collect them year round. Two paper bags starts the woodstove. every time.

Why are you for banning useful items?

Because they were a big public nuisance...and the alternative turned out to be much easier and better. It is actually easier, more convenient to deal with groceries now. I would not go back to the old way of doing it with the cheap, wimpy free bags.
