Nadine Dorries Under Fire After Admitting She Shares Her Office Computer Password With Staff, Others

Nadine Dorries comes under fire after admitting she shares her office computer password with staff and interns as she tries to defend porn-row Deputy PM Damian Green

A senior Conservative MP was under fire today after admitting sharing her computer password with staff and even short term interns.

Mid Bedfordshire MP Nadine Dorries claimed the behaviour was standard practice around Parliament despite being a breach of IT security rules. House of Commons handbook rules state: 'Staff must not share passwords.'

Ms Dorries was accused of a 'cavalier attitude to data security' after her posts on Twitter.

The MP made her stand in protest at claims from a retired police officer than Damian Green, the embattled deputy prime minister, must be responsible for porn found on his Commons computer.

On Friday former detective Neil Lewis disclosed his notes from a controversial 2008 raid on Mr Green's Commons and claimed that on some days porn was browsed and open on the computer for hours.

But Ms Dorries said the practice of MPs sharing passwords with staff meant there was no way to prove who was responsible for any particular computer action.

You think our representatives and Senators don’t do the same thing?

Boy, no kidding. I am always amazed at this level of stupidity.

I work in IT, and I have people willing to hand their passwords over to me all the time, and I have to put up my hands and say “No! Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know. Here is what we will do...”

If I were a public figure, politician, sports figure, etc. I wouldn’t let anyone have it in a million years. Nope.

And people who do have only two excuses: They are ignorant (because some people don’t see the problem and have to be told) or they are stupid.

I tend to think people like these are not only stupid, but breathtakingly lazy. Laziness is often the reason they are willing.

LOL, I would have rephrased it: “You think our representatives and Senators aren’t idiots?”

Well, that’s a more general classification. I was referring specifically to that issue.

I would like to point out she is so stupid but, that would be redundant, as she already knows...

Her defense for stupidly viewing porn on her work computer is to claim she was even stupider than that?

She wasn’t the person who was alleged to have viewed it. Another MP allegedly had it on his computer. Her point was it may not have been him.
