FOX SPORTS BUDGET CUTS COULD AFFECT SUPER BOWL PLANS FOR SKIP BAYLESS, OTHER FS1 STARS
Sporting News ^ | December 11, 2017 | Michael McCarthy

The NFL's two-year TV downturn is taking a bite out of broadcast TV partners like Fox Sports that fork over billions for rights to live games.

Fox Sports staffers in Los Angeles are bracing for a wave of possible budget cutbacks due to disappointing NFL advertising sales this season, sources tell Sporting News. Another important factor: With Team USA eliminated from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Fox can't count on soccer ad dollars next year to get well from an ad standpoint.

Yes, but numbers should be down by 50% or more! Need to really crush the NFL and end this b.s. once and for all.

It will really be working when the playoffs and especially the Super Bowl ratings are noticeably down. We definitely have to keep it going.

One SeaSlug, a well known Social Justice Warrior, tried to take the knees out of player and another felt “disrespected” when some fan threw a beer at him while entering the tunnel.

There are leftists, plenty of them, that like this SJW shite in the NFL.

I hope they have so much trouble selling SB ads that it’s 100% MyPillow and Life Alert or other infomercials. Or maybe Fox will just have some dead air while people have a bathroom break.

“Yes, but numbers should be down by 50% or more! Need to really crush the NFL and end this b.s. once and for all.”

I’ve begun to wonder if the NFL itself is behind this ratings plunge. The player’s collective bargaining agreement is coming up. In an effort to stave off significant raise demands, they could be permitting ratings to take a dip then use marketing akin to the early 2000s to drive the brand back into the spotlight.

Yes, I know, it’s tin-foily, but I can’t believe the league owners are as stupid as they’ve been recently. I just hope people don’t fall for it and simply let the NFL crash back to Earth and then some. That’s when the real healing can begin.

The NFL boycott's impact on advertisers is huge because profit is always a percentage of revenue. If an advertiser was making an 8% profit on revenue and 10% decline in revenue, especially where the costs are already fixed due to the NFL contact, it means no profit, just a loss. That is why the advertisers are having to cut where they can, employees, salaries, bonuses, office space, travel, etc. This results in unhappy employees and investors. The NFL is going to get hammers when they negotiate the next contracts and then that pain will be felt by the players.

Money talks bullshit walks. If the players experience a 10% to 20% reduction in pay their tolerance for social justice warriors will disappear.

“Skip Bayless.” A name and a strong suggestion to the viewing audience in one.

According to Dan Patrick, who recently said ... according to sources near him “The smaller markets” are the ones with decreased viewing .... I guess Mr Relevant hasnt noted the empty seats in “Major Markets” nor the decrease in Direct Tv NFL viewing ...

I am not surprised at Fox taking the early road of downsizing .... and not like ESPN .. some of Fox sports programming could use some trimming or deleting

Yeah, but I don’t think that 80% of (prior) NFL fans were leftists. Most are middle of the road to somewhat conservative, I suspect, many are not very politically attuned at all.... and they aren’t going to let the kneeling interfere with their enjoyments. In my experience there aren’t a lot of leftists who love “American football”.... they tend to boast about caring more about “what the rest of the world calls football” (soccer), or more often don’t care about sports at all.

The CBA sets the cap as a percentage of revenue. So revenue down would actually hurt them as the players would negotiate for a higher percentage. Up revenues you can negotiate them to a lower percentage under the “that’s still a ton of money” tactic.

Meanwhile Verizon just doubled what they’re paying the NFL. So all this demise talk is seeming pretty premature.

I think over the past few years, there’s been a lot of nagging things about the NFL, the CTE issue, and many thug-players. Up to the whole anthem controversy, fans were willing to overlook these things, but the anthem provided the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back.’
