Cutting the grass will be $500 a week at least.
Replacing shrubs and trees that die out (not including seasonal changes) will be $15,000 a year.
Starting up and shutting down the sprinkler system will be $2000 a year.
Etc.
Many huge houses are white elephants. People don’t think of the operating costs like heat, air conditioning, taxes, insurance, etc. At some point they need painting and re-roofing. It is one of the reasons the Biltmore estate home was donated.
Even at a much smaller level, say a 4,000 to 5,000 square foot house, these expenses can require substantial income. In 15-20 years there is going to be a need to repurpose a lot of McMansions.
I guess I did not figure that this shack is roughly 12x the size of my abode. I would think you would need 3 full time employees just to keep up the grounds & pool. Then a couple people just to clean the interior.
