It’s a gorgeous brooch.
I guess when snow is consider racist so is someone wearing a broach with a likeness of someone of African decent.
"Sorry, not sorry!"
So a piece of jewelry that shows a black man decked out in extravagant royal finery is racist?
I'M gonn'a venture the guess the brooch is a sign of solidarity as opposed to rebellion and/or racism.
If you search “blackamoor brooch images” you will see that there is quite a variety available.
Some are quite elegant, and some are cartoonish ethnic stereotypes. I wish I knew what the “offending” brooch looked like.
I am willing to bet it was one of the elegant ones, and was worn in innocence.
But then...I am a First Nations Canadian Indian am not offended by the “Redskins” logo.
She should also be ashamed of appropriating African culture by mimicking early African hominids who walked upright. She should be on her knees!
It is NOT racist
She was either trying to be deliberately rude, or she’s a fool. And those saying she shouldn’t have apologized definitely fall into both categories.
Seems a little weird. A brooch of a head of someone, and a white woman is wearing a black woman, as she appears with the first black princess to be? Id think shed have enough jewelry to not wear that one that night. Its like that church dinner for the black community in the USA recently where they chose cotton bolls as every tables centerpiece. Just not very brightly thought out.
The people complaining are the same ones who complain that the black keys on a piano are shorter than the white ones.
And how many American Millennials are going to see one of those and even know what it is?
Many people awaken each day with the hope that they find something to be offended by.
Look up her biography. She’s no dolt. One of her accomplishments is books she’s written about European royalty. They’re very good....well written and well researched.
How DARE jewelry depict a black man as wealthy royalty.
Too bad everything is offensive to someone.... My New Years resolve is to ignore the myriads of morons who have such a slight insight to history, culture and tradition that everything they see is an offense. I am officially offended at them. Same thing for folks who tailgate.
I thought diversity was a good thing? Guess I was wrong or else I simply do not understand diversity.
If it was me, I’d have asked the woman if she is mixed race, too?
I doubt Markles is worried about the brooch, she’s ‘merican.
