i love fruitcake. Claxton in GA or Collin Street Bakery in TX.
Me too. Can’t wait until all of the Claxton cakes get marked down after Christmas. I’ll freeze about ten pounds.
When I was in my 20s, someone had given me a fruitcake. It languished in the cupboard because I really had never eaten one before, and frankly it looked a little scary.
Well a couple weeks after Christmas I was sitting alone in my apartment. I had made myself some coffee, and craved something sweet to accompany it. There was nothing in the house, save for the forlorn fruitcake in the cupboard.
My craving for something sweet got the better of me and I cut open the fruitcake—Dang, this ain't bad! And I've been enjoying fruitcake ever since.
My guess is that many of the people who claim not to like fruitcake, have never even actually tried it.
Southern Supreme in NC is excellent.

I’m told that my fruitcakes are fabulous...I don’t actually eat the stuff, but my husband and all of his family eat it and love it...
Didn’t like fruitcake until my late mother in law served us Claxton dark fruitcake soaked in brandy, frozen, then thawed. Wonderful.
Great minds
