My son Wyatt is 14 years old. Wyatt has literally grown up in the fire service, he has been my shadow doing work in and around the fire station and in our community since before he could walk. This past February when he turned 14 years old was his first milestone in the fire service, he became a Jr. member of the Sandoval County Fire Department La Cueva district. Since that time he has grown and learned a lot including completing basic wildland fire training and is now a firefighter type II. His goals include one day being an FMO with the USFS.
This past Sunday morning Wyatt was feeding livestock, hauling hay bales on an ATV when he had an accident and ended up underneath the rear tire of the still running and in gear ATV. The rotating wheel/tire caused extremely severe trauma and burns to the soft tissue on the right side of his face. Wyatt was able to push the ATV off of himself and walked to the nearest home where emergency services were summoned. Wyatt was life flighted and is in the pediatric ICU at the University of New Mexico Hospital and faces intense facial reconstruction, His Mom and I and his three sisters would greatly appreciate your prayers.
