Shouldn’t the “Bama exemption” actually be the Ohio State exemption? They were the first “non-Champion” to be in the playoffs when they didn’t play in the Big 10 championship game last year.
Which is more proof the entire Championship is a farce.
No that would be the “Screw the Big10 over Rule”.
Last year they didn’t take the Big10 champ and took a lessor team. This year they didn’t take a single team from the Big10. The committee doesn’t want to have the Big10 be seen as the best because that will upset the rule that SEC is the toughest ever since ESPN started backing them in their partnership.
Last year Big 10’s #2 or #3 team made it. This year they couldn’t do that again and didn’t want Ohio State to embarrass the SEC so they just put in 2 SEC teams. Next year if SEC gets any worse they’ll have to put in 3 teams to have a chance.
So Auburn beats both Georgia and Alabama and Georgia and Alabama make the cut. Oh man if UCF pulls off a win over Auburn...that will be even more egg on the committee’s face. Leave out the only viable unbeaten team and have them beat the only team that beat two of the final 4.
