I’m reminded of the line from Spectre:

James Bond: Do me a favor, will you? Throw that down the toilet. Cut out the middleman.
A mere fad. Alcohol kills off any nutritional benefit either through direct contact with the blend or by immediately shifting your body from absorbing nutrients to ridding itself of the toxins (alcohol). The digestive process restarts after the alcohol is no longer a threat. Which could take hours.
