My father loved goose hunting. My stepmother quickly learned that when you cook a goose you also cook chicken, because a lot of geese do not taste good (too tough-old goose or bad tasting-bird ate bad things). The first bite of the goose was always done in the kitchen before the meal.

Ok. If you say so, Sweetie. Don’t know much about those kinds of dogs. :)

You ever hunt them with dogs and a pickup?

started my dog hunting in southern cal. ( before 1972 we could tree mountain lions , bears, and all other tree game. now in cal. only raccoon, possum, grey fox )

traveled to Bakersfield and went hunting with men that ran greyhounds that caught and killed yotes. wide open spaces. dang near broke my back bouncing up and down in the back seat of that pick up. Lots of fun but you need lots of flat federal land or large track of flat farm land.

we now live near the border of Mo. and Ark. all hollars and draws and few pastures here and there. it sometimes takes me a hour or more to walk and climb a half mile to a tree or bay. no flat land.

Yea, that's where I was going with the question. I used to pheasant hunt in N.W. Kansas and the land owner whose farm we stayed at had a dozen greyhounds. We hunted with six one evening but didn't see any coyotes but they did catch a badger. Never saw anything like it, four dogs each had a leg and the fifth had it by the head.......

Old 4 wheel truck with flatbed on back and 6 compartment kennel to hold the dogs. Dogs would stick their heads out the windows and when he pulled a release cord from inside the truck cab, the sides would drop down and it was off to the races.

It was beautiful watching those greyhounds run like they're supposed to do......

I should add, we never saw any coyotes, he just let the dogs loose to let them run the country road.........35 MPH and they were just cruising and having fun

I’m a born Eagles fan and have had to wait decades for a man like this to lead the team. When he went down three games ago with a season-ending knee injury, it was a sad day for me and thousands of other Eagles fans.

I’ll bet it was. I am always sorry to see a good player go down with an injury.

yep that is what these old boys had...so wild to see dogs drag down a yote and kill it in seconds....we catch tons of stuff on the ground. the breed of dogs we use, a poacher would use. Type of dogs that are real tight mouthed...they run to catch and kill... but will tree or bay if they got to. and are trained to decoy yotes...not near as much fun as running them down

Our climate here in Connecticut doesn’t allow a hunting dog to work year round

yes we can hunt all year long here...summers are bad tons of ticks, snakes, the worst is chiggers...may every liberal have bed bugs and when the go outside have chiggers follow them every where...

Can’t tell you how many duck wings I have in my freezer for *training* Gag

sure you can guess what kind of stuff in the freezer here...not good wife thinks I am crazy... I do not have to think it

Maybe in another life, I will have an extra fridge, that will house the duck wings. Frozen eel. Squid. Blood worms. Meal worms. Night crawlers. And all the other stuff I have to work around.

So much for co-existence. ‘Tis the price of harvesting your own food. :)

I used to travel for customer support. One customer had a pond between the entrance and the parking lot.

I had to wear a suit, so I had nice Florsheims with leather soles.

I always hated to go in that main entrance to sign in, worrying about diseases I'd embed into the soles.

Avoiding the fresh crap was easy, but it was impossible not to avoid the older, stained-on stuff on the sidewalk.
