All those Canada geese ... hope they’re going to be food!
Not as meaty as farm raised geese but they do have a good flavor.
It is almost certainly a photo of the entire group of hunter’s geese - they do put limits on geese. It IS all food.
I have old photos of my grandfather and dad from pheasant hunting trips. They would hunt with a large group of guys lined up and walking the corn rows. I got to go a few times as a kid and stand at the end of the fields so the birds would flush up at the last minute.
Old cars from the 40’s with ropes strung out and maybe 40 birds strung up and hanging from the side of the car. I’m guessing that was just for display - and not for transportation.
They’re nasty birds that shit all over everything and transmit diseases and parasites. I have not noticed a shortage of them in northern Ohio. Thin them out imo.
That would be nice but here in S.E. Michigan they're nothing but pooping big birds that literally inhabit every subdivision pond, every golf course and park. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!
The damn things no longer fear humans or cars and too many times they're holding up traffic on major highways while their flocks casually stroll across.......
Their growing infestation rivals that of the English Sparrows and Starlings...............
“... hope theyre going to be food!”
Gotta get enough during hunting season to last till the next year - a freezer full.
My father loved goose hunting. My stepmother quickly learned that when you cook a goose you also cook chicken, because a lot of geese do not taste good (too tough-old goose or bad tasting-bird ate bad things). The first bite of the goose was always done in the kitchen before the meal.
