Was the crew singing: “Valhala, I am coming!”?

When I was a kid, we called these “monster storms”, WINTER.

That’s because the family has no sea expertise nor engineering reports about how strong the ship in in which conditions.
Sounds more like an adventure to me.
It’s not an adventure until something goes wrong.

Some people pay more for these kinds of adventure.
“This ride is the same as an elevator dropping 20 stories”. Why would I want to pay for that?

Surely you were thinking about Leslie Nielsen.

This WAS an unusual storm-——and I’ve lived through many of them.

Two inches of water in your cabin is not an adventure.
To: rjsimmon
You're thinking of
Leslie Nielsen in "The Poseidin Adventure" (1972). Was it reallly that long ago?

I was on a two week crossing of the Pacific back in the late 50s.
The swells were higher than our MSTS ship.
Soldiers below decks fought back gallons of barf sloshing back and forth...

I’d hate to see how these folks would handle a real sea emergency.
Yes I understand you paid for “luxury” vacation, and you had to deal with less than an ideal situation, but you made it home safe.
First world problems.

Was it reallly that long ago? Yep, it was. BTW, love the UserID.

For sure. Went to Martha's Vineyard about 20 years ago during the last Fall week of the season.
The night before we were supposed to leave a substantial storm started coming through and there was doubt the ferry was going to take us back to the mainland. They finally decide to go ahead and this big ferry 9could hold a number of semis in the hold) was bucking up and slamming down because the seas were so rough - wasn't terrified but did have some doubts about whether we should have gotten on it. Trying to picture a cruise liner doing the same thing on a larger scale doesn't make me want to go and 'experience the thrill"....
